European Parliament
The European Parliament is the democratic institution of the European Union (EU): its 736 members are directly elected every five years by over 375 million citizens across 27 countries. Members of the European Parliament vote legislation that is directly binding in all EU countries, in areas such as financial regulation, energy policy, agriculture, fisheries, consumers' rights, health and the environment, civil liberties, transport... MEPs also help define and supervise European foreign policy, by voting on the EU's foreign affairs budget, on an equal footing with European ministers in the Council. The Euro-Mediterranean partnership is at the forefront of debates on foreign affairs at the European Parliament, and MEPs from the South-East of France have always played a key role in influencing Euro-Mediterranean policies and encouraging progress towards a "Union for the Mediterranean". Since 2004, the Euromed Parliamentary Assembly brings together each year a delegation of MEPs and their counterparts from the other side of the Mediterranean to discuss and vote resolutions on issues of strategic importance to the development of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.

Institut de la Méditerranée
The Institut de la Méditerranée association was created in 1994 by local authorities in the Marseille area (Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, the French department of Bouches du Rhône, the City of Marseilles and the Marseille-Provence Chamber of commerce). In 2010, Euromed Management became the 5th member of the Association. The activities of the Institute are organised according to two major and complementary functions: on the one hand, lobbying and the identification and follow-up of projects for founding members, on the other. As part of its first mission and in partnership with the Economic Research Forum of Cairo (Egypt), the Institut de la Méditerranée coordinates the FEMISE network since its creation in 1997. The FEMISE Euro-Mediterranean network has been established as a French non-profit association since June 2005. The network is composed of 80 members (economic research institutes) that represent the 37 partners of the Barcelona Process. Supported by the European Commission within the framework of the MEDA regional initiative since 1997, FEMISE is coordinated by the Institut de la Méditerranée (France) and the Economic Research Forum (Egypt). Its three main objectives are: 1. Conducting socio-economic research and making recommendations on topics identified as priorities for the future of the Euro-Mediterranean region. 2. Publishing and disseminating this research to public and private institutions—national or multilateral—and to the academic world. 3. Encouraging the broadest possible dissemination through the most appropriate means.
