Workshop Water Governance in the Mediterranean

The workshop on “Water Governance in the Mediterranean: What will be the role of local and regional authorities?” will contribute to prepare the first Mediterranean Water Forum to be organised in Marrakech in December 2011 by the Mediterranean Water Institute (IME), within the preparatory framework for the 6th World Water Forum.

This meeting will be the occasion for Mediterranean local and regional authorities to take part in the debate as principal stakeholders of the Mediterranean water community in order to:
- promote their expertise in water governance and management by identifying innovative projects and practices;
- present their views on ways and means to strengthen their role in water governance within the new political framework of the Mediterranean and the different decentralisation processes of each country.
